At Forterra (formerly RRAI), I worked as a robotics software engineer. My main focus was the LIDAR system which uses laser range finding to map out their vehicle’s surroundings. As you can see, these vehicles are made to go far off the beaten path. I applied many different techniques in my work there: low-level C++, shared memory communication, and machine learning on embedded hardware to name a few. Deploying this code to a fleet of vehicles and testing my software were also major elements of my work. I learned a huge amount and am deeply grateful for my time there.
